Operakällaren wanted to create a bar concept that would not only complement the dining room but also become its vibrant heart. The result was Bar Othilia—a timeless destination with the ambition of becoming an institution in its own right.
The bar is a long-awaited addition that enhances the overall experience at Operakällaren: the already high standard of food and wine is now complemented by a world-class cocktail bar, right in the heart of Stockholm.
Building something new in a venue with that legacy is a balancing act. The legacy can be a source of strength—but it can also be stifling. Othilia would be unmistakably Operakällaren and, at the same time, something of its own: freer, open a little later into the evening, with an attitude that doesn’t need to apologize for having fun.
FRIMA has been part of the process from the start and has shaped Bar Othilia’s visual identity and tone—a style that carries on Operakällaren’s legacy while daring to be more playful. It shows in the small details: how a name is presented, how a drink is described, and where they choose to be minimalist.
We’ve also been responsible for photography, video, and the digital presence. The visual style, the moving images, and the channels that make Othilia feel just as thoughtfully crafted on screen as it does at the bar—because these days, more guests encounter a cocktail on their phone than at the bar.
